Our Mission
The Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation is committed to inspiring philanthropy and community service. We do this by creating awareness, offering guidance, and leading by example to show the world what giving can do. Our grants support public 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations based in the United States that either help people in need or solve complex problems. We also spearhead grassroots campaigns to encourage others to give.
Our Story
Steve and Alex Cohen launched their Foundation in 2001. Over the past two decades, they have given over $1.3 billion in gifts to organizations that improve children’s healthcare and education, serve the underserved, support the arts, protect the environment, and further Lyme and tickborne disease research. Their giving reflects a personal connection with the causes they champion, however, it isn’t limited to these particular areas.
It’s important to the Cohens that they continue to help where there is the greatest need. They’ve endowed a hospital for women and newborns, invested in a psychedelics research center, and donated to hurricane relief efforts. They believe in giving where they can make the biggest difference—even if that means changing course.
